Finding and dominating a niche is a great way to build your online business. Marketing to a group of people who are interested in something very specialized, whether parrots or 1967 Mustangs, is a great position, because all you have to do is make them aware of you and keep a top-of-mind position with them, and they will come to you for all their needs in that niche.

Email marketing is a great way to gain that top-of-mind awareness, because people like to buy from businesses and individuals they're familiar with. If you're regularly sending out a newsletter they find useful, as well as good special offers and the occasional special bulletin or solo offer from someone else with something they're interested in, they will look forward to your emails.

Niche markets are almost always made up of people who love information. If you've visited a bookstore or magazine stand lately, you've no doubt seen all the magazines on collecting, scrapbooking, and fitness. These are examples of niches, and people buy these magazines to find out more about their niche.

If you provide a useful newsletter with information on your niche, people will look forward to receiving and reading it.

The key is that your newsletter should include information that they're not seeing elsewhere. Many newsletter editors go to the article directories, pick the latest articles on their niche, and put them in their newsletters. If you have custom-written articles or are more selective in choosing your articles, your newsletter will stand out for its unique information.

Another great way to beef up your newsletter is to solicit questions and answer them in your newsletter. If your readers don't immediately start sending in questions, you can create your own questions at first and answer them in a few issues. Your readers will quickly start sending you their own questions, and you can make this a regular column in your newsletter.

4 Signs Some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Companies Don’t Know What They’re Doing...

Trusting someone to make edits to your website can be a nervous event. To make matters worse, this person who you are giving control of your website to is probably a stranger, someone you have never met before. However, giving control of your website’s destiny can be a positive experience if you find the right person for the job. Below are four indicators that the SEO professionals you have found are not exactly up to the times with their service and offerings.

1. The SEO guarantees you will rank on page one of Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask and all major search engines in very little time and for any keywords you choose.

This would be comical except I see these claims almost weekly in my email and on some low quality blogs and “SEO” websites. I have been ranking websites for many years and I have never held top positions on the three major search engines for the same keywords at the same time. I am not saying that it is impossible, but it’s ALMOST impossible and it definitely cannot be done for any keywords you choose.

On top of these outrageous claims, this “service” is offered at a price that seems almost unbelievable. Here’s a hint, it is unbelievable and not going to happen as advertised. Fortunately, thousands of new marketers discover Internet marketing every day. Unfortunately, they do so with a target on their back. Knowing this is the key to understanding these exaggerations. Only someone with absolutely no real idea as to what it takes to rank a website would believe these claims are true and as affordable as pitched.

Real SEO takes time and cost money and results are NOT Guaranteed. Anytime any SEO makes any ranking guarantees, get as far away from that SEO as you can. That SEO is either lying, thinking you don’t know any better and trying to part you from your hard earned money, is ignorant of exactly what it takes to rank a website or is just plain dumb. Either way, you are not dealing with a real, experienced SEO professional.

2. The SEO offers to submit your website to a Gazillion search engines for a fee. This is a long time ruse to separate the inexperienced webmaster from money that could be put to better use.
The newbie Internet marketer knows very little about search engines and their hierarchy. For those who don’t know, Google is the only search engine you need to concern yourself with, at least initially. Google will index your website long before any other search engine finds your website. In what can take a few weeks, Yahoo and MSN will also discover your website and place you in their index. However, your website needs to be found first and paying money to be submitted to any number of search engines is not necessary.

Do this, Start posting comments on blogs that are of interest to you. Put your website or blog url in the comment area where asked and do this several times a day. Within two to three days, your website will be spidered and indexed into Google, Yahoo and the others. There is absolutely no reason to ever pay for website submissions.

3. The SEO believes that directory listings and reciprocal linking are very important to adding inbound links to your website. This process was the fundamentals of linking just a few years back. In the past, every “successful” SEO immediately added your website to directories of all kinds. This was a quick and easy way to add 20, 30 or even 50 one way links to a website. This was standard practice for a number of years. Recently, links from directories have been officially devalued in Google. 

More and more directory listing categories are being removed from Google’s index and listings in these categories are literally not searchable. Wwhatever Google does, the others are soon to follow. Google does seem to still see value in the Yahoo directory and Business.com, but a great many old and trusted directories have recently started showing signs of little or no indexing.

Reciprocal linking, including various combinations of one, two and three way linking is also something Google gives little if any relevance to anymore. Like link directories, reciprocal linking has been abused by most people with a website and Google has recently diminished the importance of these links in ranking factors and large reciprocal linking directories that many websites have are actually hurting their rankings now.

Link building is essential to successful SEO. Internal links within a website are very important to rankings. One way links from a variety of sources are also extremely important. One way to get one way links that will provide some benefit is by commenting on blog posts within your website’s niche. Links from posting comments back to your website or blog not only offer referral traffic from blog visitors but also adds links that are not reciprocal. However, this too has the potential to be abused and should not be your main source for links.

Participating in social websites such as Mixx, Digg and Stumbleupon offers a possibility for links to be created and shared. Running a blog of your own will quickly provide relevant one way links also. The key is to attract links using many sources and not just to rely on one means of link building for your website.

4. Finally, any SEO that claims to have a special relationship with Google and knows “secrets” that other SEO’s don’t know should be avoided at all costs. There really are no secrets to SEO. There is on page optimization and there is off page optimization and none of this involves secrets.

SEO is ever changing. Less than one year ago, reciprocal linking and link directories were an established part of search engine optimization. Now, they are considered to be a thing of the past. As the web grows and changes, ways to interact with that growth and change offer website owners new ways to attract visitors to their websites. Relying on methods that are years old and not effective anymore is not only a waste of time but may eventually get your website banned from rankings.

So, if anyone starts selling you on a SEO plan that relies heavily on any of the four things posted here. Say ‘no thank you’ and continue with your search.

A salescopy should be persuasive, upto the point with clarity of purpose. A lot of effort goes into crafting a successful salescopy that captivates the reader and persuades them to take a desired action. Almost all online businesses, selling products or services, depend on the effectiveness of the salescopy to make sales.

But not all salescopy succeed. You need certain time-tested successful formulas and techniques, that have produced real results, developed by marketing experts with years of experience.

In order to convert your visitors into paying customers, your salescopy must include the following 10 "must-have" ingredients:

#1: Your unique selling proposition

Your "USP" is the unique sales angle you use to make your product stand out from the competition.

For example, Domino's Pizza used to guarantee "30-minute delivery or it's free!" They didn't even TRY to sell you on the quality of their pizza, because they guaranteed fresh, hot pizza at your door in 30 minutes or you didn't pay.

And that made them stand out from all the other pizza joints in town!

You need to come up with your own "USP" that tells visitors what makes YOUR business special, what it is you offer that isn't available anywhere else online.

Then you need to emphasize that USP in your salescopy!

#2: Language that speaks to your target audience

You need to speak to your visitors in language they understand and relate to.

You wouldn't use the same kind of language to talk to a group of surfers as you would to a boardroom full of stock brokers... and neither should your website.

What common phrases and expressions do your visitors use? Those are the words you need to have on your site.

#3: An attention-grabbing headline

Internet surfers are busy people... they only spend a few seconds on a website before they decide whether to stick around longer or move on to the next site.

That's why you need to have a boldly formatted headline that jumps off the page and hits your visitors right between the eyes, and tells them exactly how your website is going to help them.

Well, studies show that a simple headline change can increase sales by 1700% -- or more!

#4: Proof you're a credible business

Internet users are a skeptical crowd... They're constantly on the lookout for bogus information, false claims, and online scams.

Killer salescopy doesn't focus on the features of your product or service -- what it does, how it operates, or what it looks like....

... It focuses on how the user will benefit from these features.
This is a subtle difference that people regularly miss when writing their salescopy, and it's a mistake that costs them countless sales.
  • A FEATURE is one of the components or functions of your product or service. (For example,your dishwasher's "Water Saver" function reduces water use.)
  • A BENEFIT is something your product or service will do for your buyer to somehow offer a solution to a problem. (For example, but reducing your water use, your dishwasher's "Water Saver" function will SAVE YOU MONEY!)
Emphasizing benefits is the number one most overlooked rule of copywriting...

... So by learning how to effectively communicate the real benefits of your product, you will have a huge edge on many of your competitors!

#6: An iron-clad guarantee

These days, shoppers have been trained to be incredibly skeptical... They've been hardened by experience to doubt nearly any advertising they see or hear.

We've all been burned before... and every time it happens, it becomes harder for us to trust anyone.

By offering a 100%, no-hassles, no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee, you will ease your customer's worries and encourage them to feel confident placing an order with you.

#7: Free bonus items to create added value

When you create a blockbuster package packed with FREE bonus items that clearly exceed the value of what you're asking your customers to pay, you can easily double or triple your sales!

However, when you're deciding what to offer as a free bonus, there are two basic rules that you should follow:
  • Rule 1: Make sure that your "bonus" is of value to your target market.
  • Rule 2: Choose something that is related to your product or service, or something that will enhance your product or service in some way.

You can create urgency in a number of different ways:
  • Limit the time for which your offer is available -- "Available for the next FIVE DAYS ONLY!"
  • Limit the quantity of products or services you can offer -- "Available only to the first 250 people to order!"
  • Include a discount for a limited time or on a limited quantity of products.
  • Include bonus items for a limited time or on a limited quantity of products.
By creating a sense of urgency, you can prompt readers to take immediate action and go through with their purchase. This is a guaranteed way to add a significant boost to your bottom line!

#9: A strong call to action that gets your visitors to BUY

You've grabbed your visitors' attention with your compelling headline... established your credibility... presented your offer... and included all the other essential copy elements we've just described...

... So your visitors are SURE to buy now, right?

Wrong!

This is the moment when you have to spell it out for them as clearly and blatantly as you possibly can.

And that means you need to...

Ask for the order! Ask for the order! And then ask for the order again!

Here are a few examples of simple, but direct, ways of asking for the order:
  • "Just click HERE to order NOW -- Risk-free!"
  • "To order your copy today, along with your 5 FREE bonuses, click here now!"
  • "Click here now to take advantage of this limited time offer!"
Without this direct approach to asking your customers for the order, they won't be given that final "nudge" they need to pull out their credit card and start purchasing!

#10: Your contact information

Once you've asked for the order, it's extremely important that you make it easy for your customers to contact you!

Include this information right on your main homepage. Give them a number of different ways to order your product or service -- such as a secure online order form, by phone, or with mail/fax order forms.

Also include your email address and phone number, so your customers can get in touch with you right away if they have any questions they want to ask.

This may seem like an obvious part of your sales process -- but it's shocking how often it's overlooked!

So those are the 10 "must-have" copy ingredients that every website must have, in order to convert the maximum number of visitors into customers.
